The Anaesthesia Department at Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has achieved a significant milestone, successfully completing two rigorous accreditation visits on Friday 2nd August 2024. The assessments were conducted by distinguished teams from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN), led by Prof. Sadiq Adamu, and the West African College of Surgeons (WACS), led by Prof. IniAbasi Ilori.
During the visits, RSUTHโs Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, warmly welcomed the accreditation teams and underscored the hospitalโs preparedness and dedication to meeting high standards. Prof. Alikor highlighted the department’s state-of-the-art facilities and its commitment to excellence in medical education and patient care.
In his address, Prof. Alikor also extended his gratitude to the proactive administration of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, Executive Governor of Rivers State, for his ongoing support and leadership. This endorsement has been pivotal in ensuring the hospital’s readiness for such prestigious evaluations.
RSUTH is optimistic that the final results of the accreditation from both NPMCN and WACS will be positive as the department will continue to work closely with them to implement any recommendations for further improvements, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of medical training and professional development.
