In a significant move towards enhancing healthcare delivery, Dr. Vetty Agala, Acting Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), visited the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) on Wednesday October 9th, 2024. Her meeting with Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, aimed to explore potential collaborations that align with the vision of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, for providing quality and affordable healthcare to the people of Rivers State.

Prof. Alikor welcomed Dr. Agala and emphassized the importance of this partnership in promoting accessible health services. Prof. Alikor thanked the Governor’s elaborate healthcare benefit packages being developed by RIVCHPP, stating that these packages will not only address primary and secondary care needs but also promote preventive health measures, enhancing the overall well-being of Rivers People. He highlighted that the commitment from the state government, articulated through the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, underscores the need for an integrated approach to healthcare.

Dr. Agala expressed her eagerness to identify how RSUTH and RIVCHPP can work together to combine their strengths and implement effective strategies that will drive the agenda of RIVCHPP. She stressed that this collaboration aims to create a sustainable health system that prioritizes the welfare of citizens and fosters a healthier future for all. As part of the state government’s strategic initiatives, various healthcare benefit packages have been approved to support both primary and secondary level care.
