On April 12, 2024, the management team of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), led by Chief Medical Director Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, warmly welcomed a delegation from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), led by the President, Dr. Uche Rowland Ojinmah. The purpose of the visit was to foster familiarity and strengthen relations between the NMA and RSUTH.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to tour the hospital, where they were able to witness firsthand the facilities and services provided by RSUTH. The tour aimed to give the NMA executives a comprehensive understanding of the hospital’s operations, capabilities, and challenges.
The NMA commended the CMD for his effective leadership, the cleanliness of the hospital, resurgence in the hospital’s growth, and the overall improvement in healthcare delivery. The NMA president and entourage were particularly impressed with the state-of-the-art medical equipment in the hospital.
In response, the Chief Medical Director expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, for fulfilling his promise to workers and the people of Rivers State especially in the healthcare sector. The Governorโs commitment to improving healthcare services in the state has not gone unnoticed, and the CMD expressed his appreciation for the support and resources provided by the government.
The NMA and the hospital staff are thrilled to see the positive impact of the Governorโs initiatives in the healthcare sector and are committed to continuing to work towards a healthier and more prosperous Rivers State.
The meeting between the RSUTH management and the NMA delegation provided an invaluable platform for fruitful discussions and the exchange of ideas. It allowed both parties to address pertinent issues and explore possible areas of collaboration to enhance healthcare delivery in Rivers State.
