The Community Medicine Department of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has once again demonstrated its excellence by successfully completing a two-day accreditation visit from the West African College of Physicians (WACP). The visit, held from July 25th to July 26th, 2024, marks a significant achievement for the department and the institution as a whole.
The accreditation panel led by Prof. Hadiza Abigail Agbo, conducted a thorough assessment of the quality and standards of medical education and practice in RSUTH. Other members of the panel are Dr. Danimoh Mustapha and Dr. C. Iwu.

During the visit, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, extended a warm welcome to the accreditation team. In his remarks, Prof. Alikor expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, for his invaluable support and empowerment. This support has inspired RSUTH to reach new heights of success.
As the RSUTH awaits the final results, the successful completion of this visit is seen as a promising sign of continued excellence in the field. The RSUTH community looks forward to the positive outcomes of this evaluation and remains committed to advancing medical care and education in Rivers State and by extension, Nigeria.
