    The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) welcomed an esteemed accreditation team from the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria on Saturday September 21, 2024. The visit was led by Prof. C. C. Nwawolo and included notable members such as Col. (Dr.) Andrew Imogu who is the Faculty Chairman, Prof. Titus Ibekwe, and Prof. Amali Adekwu.

    Prof. Nwawolo emphasized the purpose of the accreditation visit, stating that the team was tasked with evaluating the hospitalโ€™s facilities, manpower, and overall infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of these assessments in ensuring that the ENT Department meets the standards necessary for accreditation, while also pledging to provide recommendations for improvements where needed.

    Upon the teamโ€™s arrival, the Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, extended a warm welcome. He proudly described RSUTH as โ€œthe cleanest hospital in the countryโ€ and highlighted that this accreditation marks the 25th successful visit within just four months. Prof. Alikor expressed confidence in the departmentโ€™s preparedness, underscoring that such achievements were made possible by the firm support of a visionary leader, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS. Prof. Alikor stated that the Governorโ€™s firm support has facilitated the logistics necessary for us to excel in this accreditation process. He added that the hospital is eager to incorporate the teamโ€™s insights to further enhance their services, training, and research efforts.

    As RSUTH awaits communication from the College of the accreditation process, Prof. Alikor reaffirmed the institutionโ€™s commitment to implementing any recommendations made by the accreditation team, ensuring continuous improvement in patient care and medical education.

    The visit today marks a significant step for the ENT Department and the hospital as a whole, reflecting RSUTHโ€™s dedication to excellence in medical education and quality healthcare delivery for Rivers People.
